We packed up brown bread and honey sandwiches, the last chunk of banana loaf and a few apples.. and headed to the woods for an adventure.
On the far side of Leigh Woods, overlooking the gorge, there is an ancient Iron Age Hill Fort.
Just a large mound of grass with old stones and bluebells growing through.
But just to mention Iron Age and Medieval to my boys and that sparks memories of the Horrible Histories and their imagination runs wild.
A long bendy stick and some string and the boys became archers... fighting a battle.
We wandered through the glades, past the grazing cattle and stumbled across the best view of Bristol. The Suspension Bridge and gorge... the sky was pretty awesome today too.
Clouds large fluffy and white... zipping by so fast.
Before home, we headed to the adventure playground for a family assault course competition and a swing....
Ah yes, the swing we all fight to go on, and once on can't get off...
the best kind of swing... long.
