welcome sponsors...

Posted on 00:22 by Unknown
Hello!
Happy Saturday to you...
Today I'd like to introduce 3 wonderful blogs who are sponsoring me right now - perfect for a spot of weekend reading...

First up..

Bristol Parenting Cafe

Bristol Parenting Cafe.  A beautiful family lifestyle blog run by the lovely Cathy.  Cathy writes about her family, craft projects, recipes and family fun days out in the Bristol area all interspersed with beautiful photography and a natural, waldorf style approach to life.

Posts I particularly loved are the Easter Egg decoration, Egg Carton Crown, Bluebells in the rain - do pop over and say hi to Cathy. Her blog is beautiful, as are her children! My fix of Bristol life.

Next up....

Flora & Purl

Another lovely friend and fellow allotment owner, Charley from Flora and Purl.  Flora & Purl is another gorgeous family lifestyle blog, which as the name suggests, includes posts on allotment life (Flora) and craft (purl as in Knitting), but these are also Charley's daughters names. Neat eh?  Charley was my very first blog person to meet in real life...

Charley is a super whizz at creating amazing fancy dress costumes such as the Narnia inspired birthday party she did for eldest daughter Flora a few years ago.  And do you remember the Wally outfit? Incredible aren't they?  Please do pop over and follow Charley's blog... it is beautiful and my fix of country life with a big dose  of cool.

Next up....

Oyster and Pearl

Oyster & Pearl is another seriously cool and beautifully written blog by, yes another friend and Bristol babe, Lottie.  Lottie weaves words and pictures on her blog with a mix of family life, cool finds and some envious adult treats plus she recently did a seriously sexy house tour.  We first met at the beginning of the year at a Wassail in deep dark Somerset, it was freezing.  We forged a good friendship with our appreciation of blogging, cake and great interiors AND dealing with 2 sons on a daily basis!.  You must pop over to Lottie's she is probably baking something right now! go... it will be delicious.

So... there you go 3 wonderful blogs to add to your reader this weekend.
Would you like to be part of the blog/sponsor gang?
There just 4 small ad spaces left for July ... these small 'blog' size ad's are just $20 for a whole month... it could be you I feature next!
Why not show the world what you write about.

my week on instagram...

Posted on 02:36 by Unknown

It's been a funny old week.
Full of up's and deep deep down's.
Monday & Tuesday saw me battling with a cold & sinus headaches. Exhausting and painful.  Which left me on Wednesday feel oh so grumpy.
That evening I chatted this lady and this lady at Malago WI . We had a talk on Mindfulness by a Buddhist which kind of sorted me out.  What the hell have I got be grumpy about!
Yesterday evening we escaped the heat of the city to the cool of the woods for a picnic tea.. sausages, strawberries and marshmallows with Dan.  A glass of wine, the smell of woodsmoke, kids running and laughing - and life was rosy again!
Today?  Well I received a special delivery.
A new chair.
Ever since this lady showed us hers, I've been hankering.
This weekend?
Well I think we are visiting the zoo with family... other than that, who knows?  I like weekends like that.
Have a great weekend lovelies...
x

p.s. Thanks for all your suggestions on my birthday gifts.  You guys have awesome taste.

pps. You still have time to book an ad space for July... xx

I need inspiration... yes, help!

Posted on 01:07 by Unknown

This was me a year a go.
It was my 40th birthday.
Do you remember my anxiety?
Turning 40 really did eat me up.
Jeeze I did go on.
This year, turning 41, I feel the complete opposite.
I feel so relaxed that I actually FORGOT it was my birthday next Thursday until my Sister in Law asked me what I wanted as a gift.
A gift?
HELP!
There's me who constantly makes treasury's each and every week cannot think of ANYTHING I really would like.
So this is where you come in...
What would YOU like for your birthday? And would I like it?
I do need a purse... any cool makes out there that doesn't cost the earth?
I have a week to go.

summer holidays...

Posted on 03:22 by Unknown

Source: katiedaisy.com via littlegreenshed on Pinterest

I need a holiday!
A proper family holiday like I can remember when I was a child.
We spent our camping summers in Pembrokeshire, Dorset and North Devon.
Weeks of camping in our old metal framed tent.  Dad would spend hours erecting it. Our Yorkshire Terrier, Pip, would be barking madly at everything, it's lead tied to the door of the car.
Mum would say 'go off and explore' - in other words 'stay out of dad's way'!
As a child in the 70's it was wonderful - I loved it.
I have such sunny beach filled memories of it, that I want my boys to feel that same sense of freedom too.

Woolacombe and North Devon springs to mind. Ah Devon Holidays!  The stuff of memories.

I love big open beaches, washed clean by the tide.
Sand dunes to make fires in and explore, sliding down on your bum!
Or Croyde Bay with it's cool surf culture.  Any of it around that way is beautiful.

The only problem I have with camping in Devon is actually the tent!
You might remember I can't do camping when it's raining.
Dan is trying to coax me back to it with the promise of a bell tent much like this one:

But it's still a tent!  Although a rather pretty one.
Maybe I should join the senior citizens and go caravanning!
Is caravanning the domain of the old or can it be cool?
I dunno...
There must be some cool caravan holidays in Devon surely?
Help!

growing..

Posted on 01:36 by Unknown

This is Charlie.
He is off on a school trip to Caldicot Castle today.
Excuse the poor quality pic, it was taken on his Daddy's phone hurriedly before setting off to school.
Doesn't he look grown up.
I felt a little choked, watching him go off!
Have a great time my little big boy!

In other news... to celebrate the midpoint of the year I am having a 20% sale in my shop. Just enter SUMMER20 !

Have a great weekend!

summer solstice...

Posted on 01:18 by Unknown

Source: Uploaded by user via littlegreenshed on Pinterest

Happy Summer Solstice / Winter Solstice to those southern hem people.
Gosh it really is half way through the year... the nights are getting longer and everything really grows in the garden from this point onwards.
Time to sow herbs like coriander and chervil.
Oriental Salads too.
I am going to the plot this saturday and I will rescue my garlic from the weeds.

Solstice always takes me back to nights spent at Stonehenge with Dan. Before the boys. Dancing to the drums, watching the druids perform their ancient rites at the stones. And cheering when the sun rises over the hill on the horizon.

Gosh it seems a million years ago.
Last night Dan and I celebrated a little differently.
He tinkered with his bike whilst I cooked a Moroccan lentil stew.  The back doors flung open, listening to the blackbird sing his song.  A large G&T in hand.
OOOO the excitement!

Since having children our priorities have changed.. I prefer the comfort of a sofa rather than a cold ancient stone to sit on! And to be honest the rain last night was awful - good luck to the party goers out there on the Wiltshire Downs.

TO MARK SUMMER SOLSTICE I AM HAVING A ONE DAY SALE IN MY SHOP - 20% OFF EVERYTHING.
OFFER ENDS 22ND JUNE AT 10AM GMT
GO!

Did you celebrate?
I wish we had had a bonfire!

carrots don't always grow straight...

Posted on 00:28 by Unknown

Carrots Don't Always Grow Straight! from Ian Henderson on Vimeo.

Inspiring yes?
Well it is to me.... I need to get back on that veg growing 'horse'.
I discovered Matt via Kerry. He featured her tape on a father's day issue of Elle Decoration South Africa.
He sent me the link of this lovely film, knowing how much I'd love it.
And I do.
I love seeing Cape Town - it is the most beautiful city. Happy, deeply cultural and full of song. It's been 12 years since I was there.
And the little glimpses of Matt's home... *sigh*
And his plot, those Aubergines! WOW.
Do you like it?

day tripping with tree & books - part 3

Posted on 13:20 by Unknown

Yup - I went adventuring to Bath today with these two lovelies... tree & books.
We always hug, walk, talk heaps, walk, eat cake, talk heaps... and have a wonderfully relaxed and inspiring time.
Bath is beautiful.
It is easy to see why tourists fall in love with its buttery coloured charms.
We wandered through the streets and along the river.
Ending up in the ever so cool The Society Cafe - dreamed about new projects and laughed about life.
Yes it's good to meet with friends.
Here's to more adventuring, ladies!
(thank you Dan, Dan & Ben for letting us go on Father's Day!)
