Walking through the parks this afternoon I became confused.
Roses are in full glorious bloom.
Yet there are definite red leaves on the floor.
I even saw some primulas in full flower... surely these are a spring flower?
Nature is confused, I am confused....
Let's move on to spring... and skip winter.

Using this amazingly easy pattern.
Although I don't hope for snow like in the image below...
I cannot wait to see all of Rufus' friends running around in them.

Frome Cobble Wobble (warning bike geek photos)

Last Sunday we headed over to Frome in Somerset to watch the Cobble Wobble.
It's a bike race that takes place up a cobble steep hill in the middle of a country town.
The Cobble Wobble is bonkers.  Bike enthusiasts from all over the country come to compete to win one of the coveted Charge bikes ... Gold, Silver and Bronze in colour.
Kids as young as 7 up to guys in their 80's try the hill race.  Many in crazy outfits.
The group shot is actually a stag do who took part.
Of course there are some serious riders there.  All names and faces from the world of singlespeed, mountain biking and BMX battle to be the first to the top.
The winner this year did it in 22 seconds!  22 seconds - bonkers!
The atmosphere was chilled, Frome totally rocks as a town. AMAZING shops up that street.
I can feel a move coming on.
A great day out.

Rufus' birthday tea....

Rufus had a small tea on Monday with his cousins and his grandparents.
Much cake was eaten and a great siege took place at his new castle.
His dragon ate the knights and the knights charged and drew their arrows in attack.
Now just his party on Saturday to do with 6 of this 3 year old friends.. help!

Well September you have actually redeemed yourself.

September here in the UK started off really cold, wet and miserable.  

The heating went on in our home and I bought out rugs, blankets and slippers in a bid to cosy us up.

But this week I am actually wearing summer dresses and flipflops again!

Thrown the blankets back in the cupboard and flung open the french doors to glorious sunshine.

An Indian Summer we hoped for, wished and prayed for is finally here!

HOORAY!

Four...

Four years ago today you took us by surprise and announced your arrival..
Four years ago today you were born quietly in our bed.  Without help, without the need of drama, just the 3 of us, you, me and Daddy.
Four years ago today Daddy was the first person to see you, and hold you.
Four years ago today I looked at you and named you Rufus funny face, I couldn't see who you looked like, and now I know it's me.
Four years ago today I was sitting on this sofa, with you held in my arms, the sunlight was streaming in through the window.  I felt alive, euphoric, happy.  Happy to have such a beautiful beautiful son.
Yes four years ago today you changed our lives so incredibly... you were in a rush to come and see us, wanting to know the world, explore, see everything... you haven't changed a bit.
Rufus you are the most happy, strong, big hearted, adventurous, fearless and kind little boy....
You make our family whole...
We love you.

Rufus, Ruby & the cousins...

Yesterday we had our bi-annual gathering of family and cousins.
Mainly to celebrate the birthday's of Rufus and Ruby who are both 4 (but 2 weeks apart).
What must life be like being 4?
Well, you can flip your hair around.
Eat cake.
Run around giggling.
Pull silly faces.
Climb on everything.
And generally look very very cute.
Then there are the cousins.. older cousins who lead you astray, who pull equally silly faces, jump up and down, climb on everything and eat cake.
There, that was yesterday... oh and we saw the sea.....
